This review is from: The Beauty of Color (Hardcover)
I have had the book Iman The Beauty of Color: The Ultimate Beauty Guide For Skin of Color by Iman in my wishlist for quite some time before purchasing it. One of the reasons has to do with my own interest to get some makeup ideas. My decision was also influenced after I watched the music video for Remember The Time by Michael Jackson because of the air of self-confidence she radiated in the music video (the same self- confidence vibe that is projected through many of her online/media interviews). This caught my attention because she probably has challenging days just like anybody else. However, the self-confidence she frequently projects through her own interviews reminds me of one of the personal goals I have to aim for higher self-confidence regardless of any life tests I may encounter. Yes, just a few years ago, I tilted towards the happiness aspiration spectrum However, I have ironically been feeling better (even in the midst of unexpected events in my life) since I have instead refocused my aim towards higher self-confidence. Anyhow, this makeup book features women from various skin complexion spectrums (models by the names of Oluchi,Ming, Brenda, and Mariana) and various celebrities (Padma Lakshmi, Kimora Lee Simmons,Liya Kebede, Alicia Keys and many more famous people featured). She also shows different techniques on how to apply eye shadow such as on page 95, plus much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Positive Memories of My Late Adoptive MotherMay 9, 2015

I admit that I finally purchased and listened to Chicken Soup For The Country Soul (A few months ago) as a way of honoring my late adoptive mother who enjoyed country music and told me that she enjoyed getting this cd from me. I admit that I give thanks for her adopting me even to this day because she took me in and accepted me as her own daughter despite being aware of my history baggage and knowing that I was given up for adoption by my biological grandmother (I say this hurt-free when it comes to this knowledge, but just fully aware of the risk that my adoptive mother and adoptive father were probably taking with eventually caring and claiming me as their own daughter).Anyhow, less than a few months before my adoptive mother passed away, I was still stationed in Japan and was calling her to see how she was doing. At the time she was doing fine and shared with me how she enjoyed this Chicken Soup For The Country Soul cd and how one of the songs moved her to tears. I could not get it out of her which music it was, but I must say that many of the songs on this cd are enjoyable to listen to. There is a wide range of country songs on this set from many of today’s well-known country artists (Alabama, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Dwight Yoakam, Linda Ronstadt, Randy Travis and more artists).

Underneath It All by Traci Lords is an honest and soul baring account on how the author’s childhood shaped her adult years. She charts her early life as a young girl in the Midwest who naturally has dreams of a better life and is greatly influenced to want more as a result of living part of her life near a university in Ohio. There are a wide range of information pieces that she recalls in her memoir (such as how her biological parents met. the heart-wrenching rape incident that she suffered as a child, how she first came into the racier side of modeling, the roles that both her biological mother and stepfather played in her life). She also creatively tied in her career progression with her love life as she recalled the men who had an influence in some of her professional projects. One of my favorite parts of the book was when she recalled her joy at being cast in the Cry-Baby movie and being cast alongside multiple famous celebrities attached to the film. I can easily understand how the traumatic rape experiences she suffered in her early years indirectly contributed towards her world view on how her own sensuality and life operated. Without providing too many book spoilers from Traci Lord’s book, I say this because I myself was traumatized from a rape experience inflicted on me around the age of 5-6 years old orchestrated by my late biological mother for the benefit of who was either one of her lovers and/or clients (I’m not sure because my late adoptive mother (around the time I was 11-13 years old) admitted to me that my late biological mother worked as a prostitute). Anyhow, Lords provides subtle hints on how what happened to her indirectly contributed to the way she felt about the areas of love and sensuality and her brave journey towards seeking therapy. There is so much more in this book written by a woman who poured much of her artistic soul towards telling an honest and unadulterated story.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Person Being Turned Inside Out By Love?May 10, 2015
Faster Kill Pussycat by Paul Oakenfold feat. Brittany Murphy is one of those classic songs that I first heard on Yahoo music radio back around 2005/2006 (I even attempted to get a cd compilation containing the song around 2009/2010 when I was still living in Orlando, Florida and have heard this song on both the Iheart and Pandora radio stations). Anyhow, this song appears to be about knowing someone in your life who shakes up your life in an unpredictable yet exciting way (I’m guessing from the lyrics where she is admitting how the person makes her feel). This music collaboration involving Paul Oakenfold and Brittany Murphy is perfect for those who like dance/electronic songs with some guitar riffs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Theme of Unconditional Love?May 10, 2015
This review is from: We're All We Need (MP3 Music)
The Tiesto Radio station on Iheartradio was one of the places where I heard We’re All We Need by Above & Beyond feat. Zoe Johnston. I’m only guessing, but I’m inferring that this heartwarming song appears to be about two people who are there for each other and have an unbreakable/indestructible union that endures through both good times and challenging times. We’re All We Need by Above & Beyond is perfect for those who like love songs with a chillout/electronic/ambient feeling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dance/Electronic Anthem Touching On PassionMay 10, 2015
The iheartradio Armin Van Buuren station was one of the places where I have heard Take Over Control by Afrojack feat. Eva Simons. Basically, this is an upbeat dance song where the singer admits that she has an interest in spending time with a person of romantic interest. The music video to this song gives a double meaning imagery to what the lyrics mean and is great for those who enjoy dance/electronic music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spiritual Dance TrackMay 10, 2015
The Other Side by Paul Van Dyk featuring Wayne Jackson is an emotional but heartwarming song about that appears to touch on the themes of afterlife and maybe spirituality? Either way, the song appears to be a positive message about eventually reuniting with close family members and/or friends in the afterlife.

5.0 out of 5 stars Club SessionMay 10, 2015
Smash by Ummet Ozcan is a song that I recently heard on one of the Pandora radio stations (I think that it might have been the Electronic Cardio Dance station). Anyhow, the beat to this song is melodic and gives an elevated feeling of being at some type of party/dance club event. Anyhow, the beat is consistent and well-placed throughout the length of the song. However, this song is best for those who are open to listening to music with an uptempo vibe.

This review is from: Move Along (MP3 Music)
I first heard Move Along by American Rejects somewhere around 2006 via Yahoo music when I was living in Florida through the navy. I have also heard this song on the radio, iheartradio, and Pandora. Anyhow, at least through my perspective, Move Along by American Rejects is a positive motivational song about keeping on towards the determination and ambition to make the best of life regardless of what may unexpectedly come up. Move Along by American Rejects is great for those who like uplifting rock songs.

Made In Heaven is a film starring Kelly McGillis as initially Annie Packert and Timothy Hutton initially as Mike Shea. The character of Mike Shea dies via drowning after attempting to save some people from being trapped in an automobile. Shea was on his way to California before his death and had just been dumped by his girlfriend. Mike Shea dies and is then greeted in heaven by his Aunt Lisa (Maureen Stapleton). His aunt explains to him how heaven works and he soon goes about seeing what heaven is like for himself. He soon meets a spirit named Annie and unexpectedly falls in love with her. Annie ends up reincarnating back on earth just as her and Mike were mapping out their life together in heaven. Anyhow, the spirit of Mike Shea petitions with one of heaven’s guides named Emett (Debra Winger) in order to reincarnate back on earth. The reason being is because he obviously loves Annie dearly and appears to naturally be hesitant to wait the length of another human lifetime just to be with her. There are multiple guest appearances from other celebrities in Made In Heaven As Well (Tom Petty, Ric Ocasek from the Cars, Ellen Barkin, and Neil Young). This film is best for those who like romantic movies with a spiritual slant.

I preface this review by making it clear that I share my reviews as a way to keep track of my interests as they intersect with my life purpose/destiny. Intuitively, it recently dawned on me that my reviews, interests in the way of books, movies, music etc, and even many of the websites I have been drawn too hold keys to my life purpose/destiny. Yes, I understand that many highly regarded, intelligent, and even some famous/influential people do not believe in a life purpose/destiny. However, I have personally seen too many signs and information telling me otherwise that would change my beliefs that each person has a life purpose/destiny in their life plan. Anyhow, this book Magickal Protection; Defend Against Curses, Gossip, Bullies, Thieves, Demonic Forces, Violence, Threats, and Psychic Attacks by Damon Brand contains ideas for all sorts of spiritual protection. For instance, there is information on protection against influence (external influences), and details are listed on how someone can be influenced externally. Pointers are given on pronunciation, protection against accidents, protection while traveling, information on his other books, and more details. His writings have been important in me helping to accept and embrace part of my true self (an aspect of my higher self that is drawn to the occult). Fortunately, I’m also able to access this book via the kindle that my mother in law bought for me due to amazon’s feature of a kindle matchbook option for those who have already purchased the paperback book.

Supperclub Presents Lounge is an eclectic mix of two cds featuring twelve tracks each. One cd is titled La Salle Neige and the other cd is titled Le Bar Rouge. There is an interesting mix of jazz and chillout melodies on this collection (some are infused with trip-hop, ambient, and electronica elements). The wide range of songs feature music tracks such as Suzuki by Tosca, Focus On Sight by Thievery Corporation, Nightingales by Lemongrass, Ebredes by Marcel, Central Reservation by Beth Orton, and Close to Greatness by Classen Collective. Inside the cd covers are pictures of what look like upscale and/or private club lounges. There is also a picture of what looks like a group gathering for a private supperclub/dinnerparty and what looks to be a chef facilitating the items and food for the gathering. Part of the cd case of Supperclub Presents Lounge (white cd cover0 features some history on the Supperclub as it relates to being an integral part of the Amsterdam night life. There is some intriguing information in the background data brief featured on the cd cover. However, for some reason, one of the detailed tidbits that fascinates me is that the Supperclub restaurant is known to seat 150 guests who are entertained by Supperclub’s eccentric personnel. Additionally, many designers, dj’s, vj’s, photographers, and artists apparently come from all over the world to congregate at this Supperclub. The cd set of Supperclub Presents Lounge is great for those who are open to listening to music collections featuring various artists who create tracks infused with jazz, chillout, electronica, ambient, and/or trip-hop elements. At the time of this writing, the website ( wwwdotsupperclubdotnl which is now wwwdotsupperclubdotcom) featuring on the cd cover allows you to look at photos and access information from Supperclub gatherings based out of locations such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Amsterdam, Instanbul, Amsterdam Cruise.

Reluctantly, I confess that my intent to improve my speaking/communication skills coupled with my interest in joining one of the local Toastmasters inspired me to purchase Talk Like Ted; The 9 Public Speaking Secrets of The World’s Top Minds by Carmine Gallo. Additionally, this book purchase is inspired by a circumstance where someone who I admire diplomatically gave me some shocking but helpful feedback when they expressed how they can see me soar even more as a person if I could find a way to align my speaking style with my writing voice. Anyhow the following are some of the detailed features of Talk Like Ted; a public speaking profile about Colin Powells (pages 92-94 under Have A Conversation), a snapshot of a Pink Concert (pages 156-157 under Deliver Jaw Dropping Moments), and the 18 minute rule as it ties into creativity (pages 188-189). The book also features various arenas with pop culture subjects as it ties into the area of speaking ( a feature of Bono from U2 on page 218, the feature of 32,000 Barbie dolls on pages 220-221, and a discussion on kinesthetic touch with a person (Dr. Elliott Krane on page 235) using a blowtorch during their TED talk etc.).

My husband is actually the reason why we both decided to watch Vikings Season 1 together (so far we have watched up to Season 2 espisode 2). I had actually had this show as one of the ones I’m following in my tumblr feed and recently took my husband up on his offer to watch it with me (we are both open-minded about what each other watches, but there are certain shows I watch on my own and there are ones he watches on his own). However, this is one show that we both can agree on because of the adventure, intrigue, and the element of always leaving the viewer to guess what is going to happen. The show centers around the character of Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), his friend Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard),Ragnar’s wife Lagertha (Kateryn Winnick), and his brother Rollo (Clive Standen). Ragnar has an understandable aggressive streak essential for this survivor. However, he also has a large heart of gold hidden beneath his tough exterior for his wife Lagertha, their children Bjorn (Nathan O’ Toole) and Gyda (Ruby O’ Leary), his brother Rollo, and a strong kinship with his friend Floki. Ragnar has an overriding goal to conquer lands beyond his own homeland. As naturally expected, both Ragnar and those closest to them experience various detours along the way towards their objective of expanding their lands. I want to say more, however I am concerned of providing too many spoilers for those who have yet to see the Viking series. Normally, I mention who my favorite characters of the show are yet I feel guided to discuss just my husband’s favorite characters for this show. My husband sees the good in various characters portrayed within the episodes of the Viking series that we have seen so far. However, my husband admitted that Ragnar and Floki are two of his favorite characters of the Viking series. He likes Ragnar because there is a sense of calm and confidence about him unless the lives of those closest to him are danger (including members of his community). I think that my husband also admired the character portrayal shown on how Ragnar could separate how he has to be in battle while carefully retaining his soul and sense of feeling for his wife, children, his brother, and his allies (including Floki). My husband also admired the character of Floki because of his assured and energetic spirit as well as how he helps out Ragnar and his wife regardless of what is in it for him.. For instance, I noticed that my husband mentioned how Floki was also one of his favorite characters when there was a scene where Floki chose to help out Ragnar and his wife even with being uncertain as to where and when he would get his next food stores (there is a scene where Lagertha expresses concern at Floki generously sharing what was left of the last of his essential food for the winter). However, even with no guarantee of a positive or negative outcome, Floki’s character is seen expressing to Lagertha that she and her husband Ragnar have no reason to fear as he trusts that he will still somehow be provided for.

5.0 out of 5 stars American GritMay 10, 2015
I actually was able to watch American Hustle after I had recently rented it from Redbox. American Hustle opens with the characters of Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams), Richie De Maso (Bradley Cooper), and Mayor Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner) appearing to be in the midst of finalizing a deal. Rosenfeld, Prosser, and De Masio are actually working together towards what is supposed to be mutual professional understanding. Rosenfeld and Prosser are in love with each other. However, Rosenfeld also has a wife Rosalyn Rosenfeld (Jennifer Lawrence) and kids at home that he also has to take into consideration. What complicates matters is that De Maso also appears to be taking romantic interest in Prosser. Irving Rosenfeld’s wife Rosalyn Rosenfeld is somewhat aware of her husband’s life, but the movie portrays that there is still so much she is unaware about. Bradley Cooper plays the integral role of an FBI agent who is orchestrating the talents of Sydney Prosser an Irving Rosenfeld due to their cunning ability to be professional con artists. Jeremy Renner plays a New Jersey mayor who is also caught in the web that is being weaved around a professional deal that is ‘supposed’ to hold potential towards generating enormous profit.

I admit that I'm lucky/charmed to have found out about the BGR burger joint by chance after hearing them advertised on the DC101 radio station. I decided to check out the Bethesda Maryland location of  BGR The Burger Joint and ordered the Wellington burger (comes with carmelized onions, roasted mushrooms, black truffles, and blue cheese crumbles) with garlic/rosemary sweet potato fries (finished off with Barq's rootbeer). My only caveat, the Wellington was cooked different from what I expected (I had initially asked for it to be medium well but it looked to be medium rare and medium). However, with my open mind, I went ahead and took a bite out of the Wellington and was pleasantly surprised at how palatable and delish both the Wellington and my sweet potato fries tasted. I also like how whoever prepared my meal gave a generous helping of rosemary and garlic to go with the sweet potato fries. I would truthfully eat here more often if I did not have to watch what I eat.

I recently went to the National Portrait Gallery with one of my friends (this partially also arose from my intent created, less than two months ago, to visit at least one museum every two weeks). Anyhow, the National Gallery has a cornucopia  of eclectic paintings and expressive images to look at within the walls of this museum.  There is so much to look at to where my friend and I were still not finished with viewing everything there was to look at after being within the National Portrait Gallery after an hour. However, I did not finish all of my order of the seasoned fries and saved some for my husband because even the small sizes of the Zburger fries can feed at least 2-3 people. I had a hybrid of rootbeer and ginger beer to drink. The whole meal was appetizing even factoring in account that I did not add the traditional sauce condiments to my meal(mustard, ketchup etc) to my meal (both the double bacon cheeseburger and seasoned fries tasted good by themselves.
I had to share some intriguing stories and links to go along with my reviews

I found this link story on  the DC101 website page  and had a feelling that others may also enjoy seeing this page.

Travis Barker Is Apparently Dating Arianny Celeste
(Mike Jones posted it Wednesday May 6 2015 at 12 p.m.)

For some reason, I also felt an urge to post this story on Blink 182’s new girlfriend Arianny Celeste (Via the Mike Jones website of DC101). Please know that I consider myself a happily married straight woman. However, I can see why Mike Jones of DC101 featured Arianny Celeste. It is apparent that Arianny is attractive, seems comfortable in her own skin, and seems to enjoy the line of work that she is in (Mike Jones of DC101 lists Celeste to be a popular UFC ring girl) .Celeste Celeste does have great beauty as does Travis Barker’s ex Shanna Moakler.  However, I truly do wish them both best because at the time of this posting, Wikipedia lists Arianny Celeste to have gotten in a past physical altercation with an ex-boyfriend named Praveen Chandra. However, Celeste is quoted as admitting her part due to self-defense (her ex-boyfriend was choking her).   It could be that Barker understandably wants a strong, rough and tumble type of model looking female (I have nothing against Paris Hilton and admire Hilton’s ambition and succss). However, it was easy to make the connection between why Barker may have been drawn to Celeste’s great beauty and personality (Wikipedia has information linking Moakler to a history where her beauty has been an asset but she too has also been in a past physical altercation; Wikipedia lists a past fight with Paris Hilton but it is hard to determine what started the fight due to Wikipedia mainly just alluding to the possible cause attributed to a time where Barker and Hilton hooked up. Anyhow here is the link

I admit that I’m very impressed by this story on a Williamsburg Virginia college bound student named Grace Duval. I found this link from the DC101 website page.

I don’t know what to say about this, just maybe that this is definitely going to set a potential precedent for how the legal system views the lover in a marriage where the husband and wife are still married. Ladies, you must know that a woman is usually always secretly waiting in the wings to poach your husband for herself to take your place as his wife if you are away from him for too long. This helps me to actually keep things in perspective in case my husband and actually have to do a long distance marriage. However, the situation between my husband and I is slightly different because we have an open marriage. I just avoid mentioning it too much publicly because there are certain rules that we have (such as my husband would warn his lover that he is going to still stay married to me even if she becomes pregnant with his child and I come first in priorities before his other lovers for holidays, birthdays etc). However, I’m not yet ready to discuss more publicly due to jealousy from people who would secretly like to be in an open marriage for themselves (i.e. slut shaming) but would prefer to prejudge and gossip about women such as myself.
Help, please...

I actually found out about this story yesterday through the Daily Mail UK website, However, I felt guided to also share the Wash fm  97.1 radio website link after hearing it mentioned on the radio from the morning host Chili. I admit that I do not always agree with the viewpoints of some of the radio hosts on DC101 or WashFM 97.1. However, I felt guided to share this link because the radio host did sound like she was coming from the heart when she wished only the best for chef Sandra Lee. Below are two of the story link websites for the article feature on the update of chef Sandra Lee

I found this link on Rachael Ray inspiring because both her assistant and Ray appeare to coming from a benevolent spirit when they chose to help out a woman (Michelle Elbertson)who achieved successful massive weight loss and has an impressive accomplishment history based on how much she has run even with now being in the 170 pound range (this has helped me shatter my own stereotype of thinking that I have to already be a size 8 or smaller to being a running regiment)

Truthfully, I already believe that, at least during the course of my lifetime, people will always be required to repay student loans (until at least the year 2070). My husband and I both mutually agreed to avoid taking on further debt and working on increasing our financial savings. This would help ensure our chances and successful collective intent to repay our student loans and be debt-free by June 1, 2035 or earlier (even on minimum wage jobs). I’m in the process of working on losing weight. However, I still find this Daily Mail Uk story on Ashley Graham because it helps remind me to accept myself as I am and to see my own beauty right now as I’m losing weight (regardless of what others think of me)

Please know that I do no deny that this list has value. However, what if how the grads are doing is actually related more to where they live and the jobs that they chose for themselves more than the college they attended. Once again, I of all people am not minimizing the college they attended, but what if it matters more of the location where one looks for employment and the type of jobs (as it relates to timing) more than the college itself. Yes, I know that many highly influential and successful people will say that a person can live anywhere in the United States on their path ot financial freedom, but what if certain states and/or cities are more conducive to financial freedom/ success in repaying debts towards becoming debt-free more than the colleges themselves.

A warning sign to me to think of ways I could increase my income and start saving towards retirement and a 2-3 year cash cushion. However, better late than never for the woman featured in this article. At least she has the courage to start now, and hopefully she is going to be much better off by age 70 (I only humbly say this because of how, less than 2-3 years ago, My own maternal grandmother admitted that she was looking to rely situation, which was a wakeup call to me because she is now 71 years old. Obviously, I wish the best for both the woman featured in the article and my own maternal grandmother despite the history between her and I. However, I take my maternal grandmothers tale and this Business Insider story as strong financial wakeup calls for me while I’m still 34 years old and still have enough time to financially turn things around. I just have to scour whatever financial information that I can online (in the way of books, websites, dvds etc within reasonable  realms of my money situation) until I can also speak with people who are on their ways towards financial freedom as well as generate professional opportunities that net me at least two thousand a month after taxes or more.
I didn't start saving for retirement until I was 57 years old, and I'm so glad I finally did
