The World Leaders With The Highest Salaries [Infographic] by Niall McCarthy

I am a proud American born female who admits that I do not always agree with some of Obama's policies. However, I can understand why the U.S. president commands a higher salary due to the high stress associated with this job. I'm guessing such as the case with Singapore because their leader Lee Hsien Loong probably is naturally expected to continue to do his part to make Singapore both a place of a high quality life for both the residents and tourists (surely there is a reason why Facebook's Andrew Zuckerberg former friend Eduardo Saverin (and one of the profile inspirations for the Social Network along with Zuckerberg)decided to move and live there).Through the United States Navy, I'm lucky to have enjoyed the chance to vacation in Singapore for my 21st birthday at what was then the Singapore Westin Stamford Hotel which is now the SwissĂ´tel The Stamford; an impeccable place that had a built in shopping mall. I admit that I had other positive memories that i'm going to conceal out of my own awareness that it would be tmi.

There is a huge variation in salary levels among world leaders across the globe. Nobody earns as much as Singapore’s prime minister, though. In office since 2004, Lee Hsien Loong earned an astonishing $2,856,930 from 2008 to 2012 before taking a 28 percent paycut amid public unhappiness. Today his salary still amounts to $1.7 million U.S. dollars. That’s enough to pay the combined annual wage of the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom combined.
U.S. President Barack Obama follows a considerable distance behind – his annual salary amounts to $400,000. By international standards, that is still quite high. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper gets paid $260,000 every year, just ahead of German leader Angela Merkel who earns an annual wage of $234,400.
