Business Insider Article Pertaining To 10 High Paying Jobs

This author (Jacquelyn Smith) wrote a well-meaning and informative article; 10 high-paying jobs you can get without going to grad school. This article pertained to me because it has one of my dream jobs on the list. However, even for the company I work for, it is tricky to get a job in public relations unless you already have your bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications and/or work experience pertaining to public relations. For me, going back to school to take classes to break into this very competitive field would only help me. For anyone who cares to know, I have actually wanted to work in the field of public relations/communications since around 2006/2007 (more on who I got this idea from at a later time). This even partially influenced my decision to leave a well-paying career with the military because I had already re-enlisted two years prior and had to stick with the previous job field I agreed to. I am fortunate to have enrolled in college after I left the navy and succeeded in completing my first bachelor’s degree within the 3 year target date I had originally set for myself. However, with naivete, I was a little over-optimistic in thinking that my military experience and bachelor’s degree would get me a public relations/communications job and/or at least a government job related to what I had done in the military. However, older and wiser, my setbacks have only solidified my intent to work in the public relations/advertising sectors (private or government) and I’m determined to study in the relevant courses to obtain my objective.  Currently, I have not yet written off doing my dream job within the company that currently employs me. However, I would still have to do the required courses related to PR first because many of the media jobs within Walmart require a Communications/Public Relations/Marketing degree and/or relevant work experience in said field. The website where I garnered this information; http://jobs.walmart.com/search/media%20public%20relations

My dream is to then work in the public relations field for at least 15-25 years before branching off into owning my own public relations firm/business. However, I’m more than aware that I may have be prepared to do this sooner (open my own PR/Advertising business) if my 15-25 year plan of being hired in the public relations/advertising industry goes differently than planned.  This is because I now believe (as of 2-3 months ago) that it is often advantageous for a person to still go after their career dreams and be prepared to branch out on their own if an employer in their dream career field may not yet see their potential and/or even if others may think that are in over their heads pursuing their chosen job (sometimes they may secretly see their potential but be threatened by the idea of hiring them for several reasons and/or simply discriminate for a number of reasons that are technically illegal but could be coded with different wordage such as we chose a more qualified person etc..).
